You Are Not Alone

Are you a family member caring for an elderly spouse or parent who lives along the central CT Shoreline?   We provide a calm voice and clear thinking to caregivers facing the stress and disruption of a family healthcare challenge.   During this holiday season we offer our Home for the Holidays checklist and a copy of the Family Caregiver's Bill of Rights.

Are you a Family Caregiver?  If you are assisting someone you care about, who is chronically ill or disabled and unable to completely care for him/herself, then the answer is "Yes".  More than one quarter of the U.S. adult population is involved in some level  of family caregiving.

VNA Community Healthcare's free Caregiver Support Network can help.  Our professionals and volunteers (former caregivers) understand what you are going through.

We believe that you can't give good care unless you first care for yourself. We live in shoreline CT, including Branford, Madison, Essex and Guilford.  We help with:
  • Free caregiver consultation, in person or by phone through our Eldercare HelpLine at 1.866.474.5230 (toll free). Offering local information to help you care for your loved one --  government programs, elder law, homecare, housing and transportation options, respite and home modifications.
  • Stress-busting, fun social events through Caregiver Programs and ongoing activities such as the weekly Walking Group and Caregiver Education and Support Group. Click here for details.
  • Caregiver Resource Centers with books and videos.
  • Buddy match -- moral support from a trained former shoreline Connecticut caregiver.
  • Newsletter with the latest  on caregiving issues and concerns.
  • Free seminars -- practical tips you can use immediately.

A free caregiver consultation is a great way to begin.   Call Jane Olson at 203.458.4259 or use the Contact Us page to send a request.   We learn about your caregiver challenges and guide you to the resources you need.  You can also simply call us for a list of upcoming shoreline Connecticut programs and caregiver information.
