Fall Prevention
Has an older adult in your life fallen recently?
VNA Community Healthcare and its partners are tackling this serious problem - fall related injuries. According to the Connecticut Collaboration for Fall Prevention, falls are the leading cause of unintentional injury among older adults. The CDC reports people over age 75 are five times more likely, after a fall, to be admitted to a long term care facility. Read more in these recent articles in the New York Times and New Haven Register.
We have added additional programs for families and older adults focusing on practical tips for reducing falls. Rehab Concepts, Guilford, is a co-sponsor and will provide free individual balance tests.
VNA Community Healthcare's Fall Prevention program draws upon the recent research of the CT Collaboration for Fall Prevention. Click here for more information on the serious consequences of falls.
