VNA Community Healthcare Receives Military Honor
January 29, 2010
Connecticut ’s Air National Guard's 103rd Air Control Squadron of Orange today presented VNA Community Healthcare with an American flag. The flag was flown on an F-16CG Aircraft as a ‘thank you’ to the non-profit home care agency. The staff sent hundreds of snacks, magazines, games and toiletries to the unit while they were deployed six months in .
In addition to helping people stay home, VNA Community Healthcare’s staff is committed to helping the community. Beyond home care nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapies; mental health; and maternal child health, VNA Community Healthcare provides a Family Caregiver Support Network, wellness center and free community programs. Several times a year they collect money, food and clothes for local charities.
“You don’t know what it means (to us) when we receive things from home, like Pringles, cookies and games… it’s the difference between a good day and a bad day,” Maj. Sorrentino, resident of East Haven , told a group of employees who attended the presentation ceremony. “We are so grateful for your service and all the men and women who serve… that was the least we could do,” commented Susan Faris, President and CEO of VNA Community Healthcare.
